We aren't sure if the big male lion eventually got a meal that day after the wild dogs denied him, but he seemed pretty content when we caught up with him and another male lion later that afternoon napping through the heat of the day.
When you think "safari," I doubt that African wild dogs come to mind. But some of our most exciting adventures on this trip involved African wild dog drama.

After a quick-but-fabulous stay at the Royal Livingstone Hotel in Zambia to see Victoria Falls, Kenny, Kim, and I were off to spend a week at two different safari camps in Botswana.
While the Big 5 get a lot of safari attention, there are lots of other marvelous creatures to see in South Africa.
I'm home! After 2 weeks, 12 different airplane flights along with travel by boat, van, bus, train, Land Rover, and foot across 3 African countries, Kim and my father-in-law Kenny and I arrived safe and sound back in the good ole USA early this week.
