Little Volleyballers
10/31/2023
Volleyball is one of my favorite sports and I'm so glad that some of my grandkids are learning how to play.
This was Kassie and Kelsey's (5th-graders now!) second year playing intramurals at Shenandoah. They improved so much over last year, getting most of their overhand serves over the net!
The girls' passing skills improved a lot too! It's going to be fun to watch them develop over the next few years.
Momma Dana coached their team. Great season, Kelsey & Kassie!
Koda (1st grade) and Ellie (2nd grade) played intramural volleyball for a few weeks too. We were able to catch them in action once, right before our big trip to Borneo.
Even though very few of these young kids have the strength to get them over the net, they are teaching overhead serving to them at this early age. I don't think Ellie got any to go over in the games we saw, but she sure tried!
So did Koda! They just need a little more "oomph!"
Really proud of their effort and learning the game!
Our fifth little volleyballer was Lucy, who played in the 2nd-grade league for her team in Harrison, Ohio.
Her game look...bubble braids for the win!
Lucy's team played other schools, so serving it over the net was important (pretty much, if your serve was good your team scored...not much rallying going on!). So they served underhand.
Lucy was one of the best servers on her team and scored several points for them.
Of course the after-game snacks are always a bit hit!
Fun season for our little volleyballers.
