Pinewood Racer
04/27/2023
Our 9-year-old grandson Krew is active in Trail Life and this spring competed in his troop's Pinewood Derby race.
Each boy is given a piece of wood with building specifications, including a weight limit.
Using their unique skills and personalities, each boy creates his racing car for the competition. Krew's age division had 11 competitors this year.
I love seeing the variety of the cars!
Each car runs in four heats on all of the different lanes while the boys watch.
We are talking 2 1/2 seconds for a run...all electronically timed....
...with results instantaneously showing up on the computer. Amazing! In this heat, less than .08 seconds separated first from last place!
But what I love most is the comraderie between the boys. They are all rooting for each other; it's truly friendly competition between friends.
Always a fun day for the Trail Life families too!
Cheering on their pinewood racer.
Wow I cannot believe how grown he looks in that first picture!!! Glad you made it for the derby Gramaw ❤️
