More Than Bears

Best-84

As I close out my posts on our amazing Alaska adventure, I have a few more images to share that aren't grizzlies at all.

There were lots more than bears to our trip! It was our first time ever to see puffins in the wild.

We saw a few tufted puffins, but mostly these horned puffins.

We saw one moose along the shore. When he saw us, he scampered up the mountainside.

Oh my goodness...the vistas were incredible! Shawn said he never knew there were so many hues of green until he came here.

One of our travel friends shared this photo of Kim and me crossing a stream together. Whatever we do, keep those cameras out of the water!

Actually, there is a special technique involved to safely cross streams with currents.

And sometimes the water got a little deep, but Shawn was always around to rescue us (he's helping Sue this time).

The wildflowers were so pretty....

Mesmerizing undisturbed ripples in the sand left behind when the tide receded...

My hayseed in Alaska!

Not sure what kind of bird this is...

...but she was screeching for her chick, which jumped in the water and skedaddled away.

This is our group of 8 (minus Shawn, who was behind the camera)...we had lots of laughs and made memories together. (Sue is a HUGE East Carolina fan...she takes that flag with her wherever she goes!)

It was a trip none of us will ever forget. Yes, we focused on the grizzlies. But this adventure was so much...

...more than bears.
