That ball-crushing collision with the bat reverberating through your whole body, and the incredible solid "ding" of the baseball as it hits are magical moments.
Last week our 12-year-old grandson Kaden hit his second homer of the year and we were there to witness it.
In the game of baseball, it truly does not get any better than this!
My nephew Wyatt plays college baseball for the Florida Gators and is leading the SEC conference this year in home runs. I asked him earlier in the summer if he remembered his first home run. A big smile came across his face...oh yes, he remembered that moment well, exactly where he was and all the circumstances surrounding it. Wyatt said he was 9 years old and hitting that homer was the biggest thrill of his life. Even these many years and hundreds of home runs later, Wyatt went on, he'll never forget how special that very first one was. It just felt SO good!
Moments like these are the reason we love sports!
They are the payoff for all the hard work, frustrations, disappointments, and failures along the way.
The ultimate baseball joy...
Feels SO good!
