Their 3rd grade girls' school team is coached by Daddy Kristoffer and his former high school basketball teammate Russell.
Girls are just so fun!
I was blessed to get to take their "official" team photos this year.
Like I said, girls are just SO FUN!
The league they are playing in has its games on Sundays (ugh...), so we haven't gotten to see very many of them. But I wanted to share a few photos of Kass and Kels in action before the season comes to an end soon.
Kelsey, although smaller than many on her team, is definitely the team's leader on the floor. She's quick and a good ballhandler (very hard to come by in girls at this age!) as well as a good shooter.
But what sets Kelsey apart is her competitive passion. Kels is out there giving 100% all the time.
Her zeal got her into trouble this game and she ended up fouling out near the end. Dad tries to encourage her, but Kelsey is her own worst critic and sets high standards for herself.
Playing against big brothers helps Kelsey be aggressive on the court. She is not easily intimidated!
Kassie is also a team leader, but in the different way. She is the social one and the glue that keeps these girls such good friends, which is also very important if they want to be successful in the future.
Tips from Coach Dad...
Kassie isn't as quick as Kelsey, but she's also a very good dribbler with an excellent shot.
A few more shots of my favorite 3rd-graders, #1 and #5 in action:
Say "it's a girls' basketball team" without saying "it's a girls' basketball team"...
The bright pink basketballs and cute zipper-pull are dead giveaways...
Typical bench shot...the girls are on the end...Kassie is socializing and Kelsey is intent on the game...
The last game we watched, the girls won in overtime when (after missing about 6 shots in a row) Kelsey hit the game-winner with just seconds to go!
Kelsey celebrated with Dad...
A fancy fist pump with her friends is more Kassie's style!
So much fun watching them grow up and compete side-by-side...
Our dynamic duo.
