And I'm so glad he decided to get all gussied up for the occasion...but this is the true Papaw we all know and love!

It was a gorgeous fall evening, perfect for a weenie roast!

Daniel-boy loves him some marshmallows!

It was a little tricky getting/keeping the birthday candles lit...

...and Papaw had lots of help blowing them out!

The kids thought it was funny that if he turned the cake around it would say "99" instead of "66." So I guess this is Kim's prediction of what he'll look like when he's 99.

I've got this to look forward to???

As we were celebrating, Farmer JB was just finishing combining the cornfield behind us. 

Which provided the perfect free entertainment for our little gleaners, who picked up some of the ears he left behind. They had a ball...true country-kid joy!

They couldn't wait to show us their harvest...unfortunately the bag they were using had a hole in it!

But all was not lost...and they spent the rest of the evening throwing corn at  to the chickens and peacocks.

A fun evening to celebrate our family patriarch...
