A Day on Canyon Lake
09/10/2021
We were just peacefully enjoying our first coffee Saturday morning when these two picked up where they left off 40+ years ago...
Mark was demonstrating some of his jujutsu moves with Barb. I'm smart enough not to get into any kind of physical contest with my baby brother, but Barb is always ready for a good tussle!
Saturday morning breakfast included a stop at the oldest bakery in Texas for some yummy donuts and treats.
Yep, that should last us for a few minutes...
The agenda (if you say that a day of complete relaxation has an "agenda") was to spend Saturday on nearby Canyon Lake.
Maria and I with our teenage girls, Seanna and Blaise...
Our supplies for the day...plus those boxes of donuts!
Mark and Alli have a very nice new pontoon boat which we filled with 12 people,a paddleboard, a tube, our lunch & supplies, and 1 big fluffy dog.
Good thing it's a big boat!
Captain Mark and his First Mate Alli...
Barb and John...and Taffy...
I even took a turn at the wheel...
A beautiful lake with clear turquoise water!
After cruising around to take a look, we anchored in a cove for the rest of the day...
Barb, Alli, and me...it was so much fun just floating in the water and visiting...
Taffy took a few dips too.
Blaise makes paddleboarding look so easy!
Not so much for most everyone else..
Go Seanna!
Ethan's girlfriend Kyli (also a high school senior) is a brave soul venturing out with this clan. She's a sweetheart...I'm surprised the House bunch hasn't scared her off!
Wouldn't you know it, an unwelcome stowaway...
When the dog has to potty...
Wyatt taking his momma Maria for a spin...
Like Blaise, Wyatt is such a natural athlete so paddleboarding is a piece of cake...
I cannot even eat a unicorn cookie in peace! That doggone cat!
Not to be outdone by her kids, Maria kept trying and finally (kinda) got the hang of it herself.
Time for a little tubing. The sisters three are ready to go!
We began a little rocky...as soon as the boat took off, the tube did a nosedive into the water. Apparently Mark (I'm sure, on purpose!) did not warn us to keep our weight toward the back of the tube instead of the front. He does things like that... Honestly, we were being probably way too trusting putting ourselves behind the boat at Mark's mercy. But he didn't treat us too roughly, after our initial plunge.
But then Mark decided to rock the boat and join us...
That tube held 4 Houses!
Mark was a LOT rougher when Wyatt and Ethan were riding!
Although he tried many times to fling them off, somehow they held on and loved it!
Alli and Seanna took a turn too...
After lunch, Ethan had to take Kyli to her car so she could go to her part-time job at a local coffee shop.
With the Summer Olympics still fresh in our minds, here's our version of syncronized swimming...
I don't think we'll be medaling any time soon...
Ethan in control...
I loved just bobbing around in the water...so relaxing!
All too soon it was time to head home...
Wyatt and Ethan made great ship mates!
A picture-perfect day with my House peeps...
...on Canyon Lake.
