One last post before we leave the islands behind...
The reason Kim and I planned this big trip was to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
By the time we finally got to go, we were actually celebrating 41 years. Never mind the details...that's a LOT of years of marital bliss and deserves a special trip!
I found the most fantastic photographer online, Emily Lehnert. I am convinced God led me to her, as there were hundreds of choices and I had no clue how to find the right photographer. Emily and her husband and children are full-time missionaries in Hawaii and she has her photography business to boost their family income.
You might think Hawaii would be a dream place to live and no need for missionaries, but you'd be very wrong. Christians living in Hawaii face a traditional culture which is very pagan, an ancient religion based on many "gods" and legends. It's tough to break through that cultural mindset, but if anyone can do it I'd place my bets on bubbly, likeable Emily!
Unfortunately for us, she lives on the Big Island and I'm not sure I could convince her to come to Indiana for a photo shoot. But check out her fantastic work HERE...and if you're ever Hawaii-bound, she's THE PHOTOGRAPHER for you!
Having a photography session gave us all the perfect excuse to clean up and put on tropical duds...
Kristoffer & Dana's family...Karter (13 years old), Kelsey & Kassie (8 1/2), and Kaden (11)
Kyler & Kara's crew...Abram (7 years old), Daniel (3), and Lucy (5)
Look at that determination on Daniel's face...
Emily & Zach's family...K (4 years old) and E (6 1/2). I cannot wait until the day they become "ours" and I don't have to hide their sweet faces!
All because 2 people fell in love 41 years ago!
As my Dad would have said, "You started all this!"
(A couple of our grandkids, Krew (7 years) and Juni (6), weren't able to make the trip...we have a total of 11 grandbabies!)
I adore my beautiful family and thank God every day for the blessings they are in our lives!
Wrapping up our week on the Big Island with our...
...Hawaii beach photo session.
Adorable photos
Captured some character in those characters!
