Everybody Loves a Parade
06/11/2021
I sat next to these two cuties, grandchildren Krew (7) and Juni (5 1/2), at our smalltown Middletown Parade this week.
They say "everybody loves a parade"...well, ALMOST everybody. Kim is an exception to lots of rules and this is one of them. In all our 39 years of living here, he has never witnessed the Middletown Parade. Even those years when his children were in the parade, Kim was working in Indianapolis and couldn't get home in time to see it. And now that he could go, he has no desire.
So I find some adorable kiddos and friends to watch it with!
Leading off the parade, as always, are the emergency vehicles. It would be a very bad time (is there ever a good time?) for a fire or police emergency, as most of the vehicles and workers were in the parade...
Atop the first fire truck was our local celebrity and church friend Erikka, who recently won her second state track championship in shot put. She recently graduated from high school and has a track scholarship to University of Miami in Florida. We're all super-proud of her accomplishments!
Gotta love our smalltown fire department's motto...
A few photos from Middletown's highlight of the summer...
There would be no parade at all were it not for the baseball and softball team entries...I started to type "floats," but is it truly a "float" when it's a truck pulling a trailer?
Kelsey and Kassie's (that's them in the corner throwing us candy!) softball team...
Another gal from our church family, Audree, is a Middletown Fair Queen candidate.
Of course, no parade in rural Indiana is complete without tractors! I love the old ones....
That's Farmer JB (who farms our ground) on the right, with his boys on a few of their John Deeres...
JB threw us some good candy!
I wonder how many thousands (yes, thousands!) of dollars-worth of candy was thrown at that parade. It's amazing!
Kaden's major league team...he's right in the middle with his trademark big smile, and Kristoffer (waving) is his team's coach.
Candy, candy, CANDY!!!
Three of our favorite Shenandoah cheerleaders right here...Anna, sister Abby, and Kayci all are part of our church family.
More church friends, campaigning for a candidate for sheriff...
Juni and Krew came out winners in the candy-collecting category!
A great evening in our small town.
Everybody (well, ALMOST everybody) loves a parade.
