Pure Golden Sweetness
09/18/2020
We harvested 35 frames those little girls filled with golden sweet honey.
Just the glorious smell of hot wax as the uncapping knife heats up takes me back to memories of 50+ years ago, when I would watch my Daddy in wonder as he used his own hot knife to magically open the perfectly-geometric cells, freeing that luscious and scrumptious honey...
My man knows just how to wield that uncapping knife...
As a child, this was a very special treat...plopping small chunks of those honey-soaked cappings in our mouths!
And it still is a very special once-a-year treat!
A frame like this one weighs about 10 lbs...a LOT of honey there!
This is Kim's "I-don't-want-to-pose-for-a-picture" look...but he's learned over the years to humor my photographic requests.
Some of the grandkids helped us strain it into the jars...a whole lotta SWEET in this photo!
A banner year for just 2 hives of honeybees with a very weird spring...we were so pleased to get more than 10 gallons of...
...pure golden sweetness.
