God-Sent
Love Being Their Mom

Eight Weeks Sweeter

Cincykids-11

After 8 weeks of pandemic-caused withdrawal, I finally got to see Daniel's sweet face (and the rest of his family's) and steal some of his sweet sugar.

I had everything ready for a day trip to make donuts with our Ohio grandkids when the virus situation escalated and nixed our planned mid-March visit.  Now that things are beginning to loosen up, Kim and I headed down to Harrison with our donut dough and supplies in hand to make up for that canceled visit.

Since we've seen them in person (yes, we've been FaceTiming and Zooming, but it's definitely NOT the same!) and they all have spring birthdays, Daniel has turned 2 years old...

...Lucy (the family fashionista, with her "heels" and elegant hairpiece) has celebrated her 4th birthday....

...and big brother Abram, who barely quits moving long enough for a photo, is now a big 6-year-old.

To say I've missed them would be a huge understatement!

I got up early that morning and mixed up the dough, and when we arrived it was ready for rolling out and cutting the donuts.

Everyone got in on the donut action!

Daniel was thankfully content to play with Gramaw's tongs...

Cincykids-13

Since his birthday had just been the day before, Daniel wanted to show us the coffeemaker he got.

Watching it "brew"...

Cincykids-13

Good eye/hand coordination practice...what's a little water on the carpet?!

Cincykids-13

Drinking his "coffee"...a boy after Gramaw's own heart, for sure!

Cincykids-31

Not knowing when we were going to come in person, I had Amazon mail Daniel his gifts and they saved them for him to open while we were there.

Cincykids-31

A "pow-pow" with Silly String (definitely a Gramaw-and-Papaw gift).  It was rainy and yucky outside....

Cincykids-31

...but that didn't stop the Silly String fun!

Kyler is a bigger kid than the other three put together.  Kara is a better woman than me...I would not have allowed Silly String in my house...

Cincykids-31

Daniel LOVED it!!!  What 2-year-old wouldn't love shooting Silly String all over the kitchen?!

Abram and Lucy both had to get in on the action too!

And that was just the first box...

The very sturdy (a necessity in this household) foam airplanes were a big hit too.

Daniel showing Papaw his pop-up bulldozer card...

Cincykids-63

After lunch, the donuts were ready to fry.  Kyler and Papaw did the hot oil detail....

Cincykids-63

...and Lucy-girl and I had the fun job of glazing them.

Cincykids-63

What an adorable helper!

Cincykids-72

Some of the donuts were picture-perfect....

Cincykids-72

...others were very uniquely shaped, but every bit as scrumptious!

The Gray family taste-testers definitely approved!

Such a fun day that did our hearts good!

Spending precious time with our Ohio grandbabies, who just grew...

Eight weeks sweeter.
