The Whys

People often ask me why we go to Africa.  Why we are involved in a mission on the other side of the globe when there are plenty of needs right here in the US.

These are the whys.

Because this precious little baby was left to die soon after her birth, and had it not been for the ministry of Mahali pa Maisha this beautiful little girl would have never had a chance at life.

Because these toddlers, most of whom suffer from various medical issues that their culture declares to be a curse upon their families, would not be surviving and thriving as they are, awaiting a Forever Family who will love them as they are.

Because of this little guy, who was born with Down Syndrome and left to die in a ramshackle hut in the slums.  He would not be the smiling happy boy he is today had God not delivered him into the loving care of the Bells.  He would have perished months ago.

Yes, I know there are lots of needy children in America.  And we have and will continue to support and help their causes when God places the opportunities in front of us and the burdens upon our hearts.

We are certainly not going to say "no" to God when He makes His calling clear on our lives, whether it happens to be right next door or on the other side of the world.  God's love for His children has no geographical boundaries and limits.  A few years ago, when we were blessed to be given the opportunity to work alongside Dave and Jen Bell and their infant rescue ministry in Kenya as members of the MpM Board of Directors, we eagerly agreed to be part of this life-saving ministry.

Even if it is 8000 miles away in Kenya.

God knows, as I know, that traveling halfway across the globe is not for everybody.  That is not a requirement for supporting this ministry.

You can be a Baby Booster and financially help support the care of one ofthese little ones, for $50 a month, the cost of an evening out.  Right now Kim and I are Baby Boosters for two...this little girl in the peach-striped sleeper and this little boy in red.  I can't think of a better way to spend $100!  (If you are interested in becoming a Baby Booster yourself, shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll get you the information you need).

Next week (yes, I'm still sorting through and working on photos from our trip) you'll be seeing lots more photos of the 31 precious little babes that God has temporarily placed in the care of MpM until He has prepared the perfect Forever Family for them.  The heart and soul of Mahali pa Maisha is right here.

So, in case you are wondering what would cause us to focus so much time, money, energy, love, and prayers on the other side of the globe.

These tiny little miracles of life, these are...

...the whys.

Kamaron Gray

Mom and Dad, thank you both for your ministry! This is what the family of God looks like when it moves and works across the globe. May Christ Jesus be praised!
