Our Tree

Tree-1

Kim and I had a beautiful afternoon to choose and cut down our Christmas tree.

Last year we discovered Millbrook Tree Farm, less than 10 miles from our cabin.  Perfect!

Grab a saw and let's do this!

Tree-1

Unlike years ago, when I had to walk the entire tree farm only to end up with one of the first trees I saw (and in the meantime testing my husband's already-limited supply of patience), these days it doesn't take me long to pick our tree.

After all, it's going to be up for 4 weeks max, and then tossed in the fire.  Not an important decision, like I once thought it was.  I've discovered as I've gotten older, my priorities for time use have changed a lot.

I did have a couple of requirements:  I had my heart set on a Canaan fir that was around 8 feet tall (due to cost...I'd love to have had a 12' tree, but the price tag of $136 made me decide otherwise).

So I quickly settled on this tree in the middle...not the dead one, but its twin right beside it.  My theory is that no one wanted to choose that tree because the dead one beside it detracted from the beauty in their photograph for Facebook.

There...cropping out that dead tree (off to the right) does make everything look better!  The tree has hidden him, but Kim is under there with that bright orange saw cutting it down for me.

I love my hunky tree man!  He sure has learned to be more patient with me over our 40 years together.

Our tree got a good strong jiggle to get rid of the excess loose junk and clean it up.  Perhaps a good strong jiggle might to do the same for me?!

Not nearly as nostalgically cute as this old red truck/tree combo, but it works...

You can't see from this angle, but it might be just a tad bit wonky... suits us and our cabin perfectly.

We love...our tree.
