Auction Time
12/11/2019
After six emotionally and physically exhausting months of cleaning out every closet, nook, and cranny in Mama's old farmhouse/garage/barns, it's finally auction time.
If you are interested in such things, here is the link to the online auction: https://www.livingtributessalebarn.com/Event
The auction is up and running...you will need to register on the website first, then feel free to bid on lots until it closes on Monday, December 16. If you've never done an online auction, it works much the same way as a live auction...except you don't have to wait around for hours until the bidding starts on what you're interested in.
And, there's a BONUS...if you live in my area, I will pick small items up for you next week to save you the trip to Hagerstown. You can't beat that! Free delivery if you live near Sulphur Springs or Middletown, Indiana!
My sister Barb and I have spent COUNTLESS hours going through 63 years worth of stuff. Mama and Dad moved into this house before I was born and after Dad passed away in 2015, it just became too much for our 83-year-old Mama to deal with and care for. So we moved her into a beautiful senior living apartment and we are selling the contents as well as the house and 3 acres.
I think Mama and Dad kept every single bill, receipt, bank statement, check stub, document, and any other paper you can imagine over their 60 years of marriage. Barb and I looked through it all. Every. Single. One.
It was time-consuming and tedious, but we did have our lighter moments with a few tears and lots of laughter. We never liked this doll that Mama had and no one wanted it...
...until we found out it had papers and was a collector's edition (it's Lot 47 in the auction, if you're interested...).
All of a sudden we fell in love with that sweet little doll!
Every time I went to Mama's house, I came home with a resolve to clean out my own closets as I really do not want my children to have to deal with this situation after we are gone. But I haven't found the time or energy yet...I suppose that's exactly how Mama and Dad felt too.
The auction is live now and will be on-going for the next 5 days, closing on Monday. Our cousin Jessica is doing the auction through her business Living Tributes.

And, while I'm at it, pass the word along to anyone who might be interested about the house and property for sale. The house is old and out-dated, but still very solid and charming and would make a great home for a young family who wants to raise their children in the country. There are 2 barns, a pasture out back for grazing a couple of animals, plenty of room for a garden...a perfect spot for a little homestead. Out in the country, but just 2 miles from Hagerstown and 1/4 mile off the Highway 38. Great location!!!

Bittersweet yet relieving....as Mama said so well, that home has served its purpose for us. Now it's time to become Home Sweet Home for another family. She's so right...
After months of preparation, it's finally here.
Auction time.
