A Wonderful Christmas Day

Housechrstms-3

Quiet before the Christmas Day chaos.

While our BIG family celebration is still to come this Saturday, we couldn't let Christmas Day slip by without celebrating the birth of our Savior!

After awaking at my normal 4:30 am, I already had my yeast roll dough made and rising when we got the phone call from next door that Santa had indeed come and we were invited over to share in the excitement and join them for breakfast.

Kim and I walked out into the quietest early morning darkness, not a sound to be heard anywhere and no tracks on our road.  What a wonderful peaceful way to begin our Christmas Day.

Kristoffer and Dana always have their home so festively lit up for the Christmas season...just beautiful!

Each one of their 4 children gave us the rundown on their Christmas gifts.

Oh yeah...and my 37-year-old boy Kristoffer was pretty excited about the vacation/states puzzle Dana had given him.

Dana baked a delicious egg casserole and her traditional Christmas scone.  Yummy!

Thanks for a great start to our Christmas morning, next-door Grays!

Then back to our cabin to prepare for 20 hungry peeps for Christmas lunch!

I do love the sweet little faces at this table...and the big one too!

After lunch, it was time to open presents!  While most of ours are waiting until Saturday, everyone got to open a little something.  After all, it IS Christmas Day!

Mama wanted some binoculars to do bird- and animal-watching from her window in her Forest Ridge apartment.

J loved his little airplanes....

Housechrstms-23

Juni and her talking hamster...doesn't everyone want a hamster that repeats what you say?!

Housechrstms-23

My father-in-law Kenny and brother-in-law John...just chillin' away from the craziness...

Barb and John, along with Kim and I, have begun fasting for health recently, so I gave Barb these books with some of the basics.  You can't give just anyone a book entitled "Obesity Code"...but Barb was thrilled to get them.

I'll definitely be doing a post on this new way of eating after the holiday rush subsides.  I'm really enthused and excited about it!

Yes, the door is open...it was 60 degrees outside and way too hot inside.  Not too many Christmases you can open the door like that!

Yoga Barbie for the family Barbie-collector Kassie...

My 83-year-old Mama looked so festive with her blinking lights Christmas necklace!

Anique, Juni, and Kamaron...

Kristoffer led us in a competitive game of Christmas Trivia.  Even though we finished dead last, my team consisting of Barb and Mama and me (we named our team the "Ho-Ho Houses) did get a few answers right.

The winning trivia team:  Kenny, Kaden, and John...their heads are filled with useless knowledge, for sure.

What a great afternoon together!

Truly, a wonderful Christmas Day!
