One year from now, my nephew Wyatt will be living his lifelong dream...playing baseball for the University of Florida.
While Wyatt verbally committed to the Florida program as a sophomore two years ago, this week Wyatt made it official and signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Gators.
Wyatt is the son of my youngest sister Maria, pictured here with sister Seanna at the signing ceremony at Wyatt's Trenton High School in Florida.
Maria was a great high school athlete, back in the infancy of girls' sports. And our Dad/his Grandpa Bud was the Marine Corps heavyweight boxing champ back in the 1950s, so Wyatt has athleticism in his genes and he's worked hard to hone those natural gifts.
(And of course, we must not forget his athletic Aunt Terry. I did hit a mean softball back in the day...or did the mean softball hit me smack dab in the face? Never mind....)
Wyatt is a strong kid and a powerful hitter, as well as being just an all-around great baseball player.
But much more than a great baseball player, Wyatt is a wonderful young man with a gentle spirit and sweet heart.
We are all so very proud of him already, and can't wait to see what amazing things God has in store for his future!
We'll be practicing our Gator chomp around these Indiana parts, and I see some trips to the brand new University of Florida baseball stadium in our future!
Super proud of our Wyatt, now...
...officially a Gator.
So awesome!! Happy for him....Congrats Wyatt :)
