When Daddy's Away

Cincy-23

When Daddy's away, Gramaw comes to play.

The end of August, my friend Peggy and I (the two grandmas of our three Cincinnati grandbabies) tag-teamed it to stay and help out Mommy Kara while Daddy Kyler was in New York City all week on a work trip.  Peggy stayed a couple of days and then it was my turn.

Just a sampling of the week's fun....

Lunch before Abram walks to the bus stop for his afternoon kindergarten bus...

Little darlin' Daniel is growing up so fast!

I later rescued some of these puzzle pieces from the trash can...

Papaw couldn't come to stay, but he sent some of the last garden corn and the children helped me husk it.

Lucy loved the idea of her dress being a basket.

Daniel is walking everywhere these days.  And he won't be left out of the creative engineering that Abram and Lucy come up with...

Cruisin' the neighborhood....

Lucy is a maniac driver (just wait until she's 16!)...hang on Daniel!

Taking advantage of the last days of summer to play outside...

Cincy-26

One afternoon while Abram was at kindergarten, we went to a nearby market.

Cincy-26

There is a fun little play area for kids, a miniature town.

And a few animals...Daniel loved the goats!

A true flower bed!

Lucy helped Mommy pick out a mum...

...to plant in her new planter.

Abram and Lucy were excited about it.  "We have a flower at our house!"

Lucy with her neighbor friend....

Cincy-51

Drawing chalk outlines of each other...practicing for their careers in forensic science, perhaps?

Cincy-71

We discovered a very fun and cheap activity....sailing single-ply tissues off the deck.

Who knew tissues could be so entertaining?  We got a few hours of play from them.

Cincy-77

And, of course, we had to make some paper airplanes.  Followed, of course, by a competition.

I was the loser (no surprise there...) and created Abram a trophy for his airplane-flying success.  No comments from the peanut gallery on my rendition of the pterodactyl design....

Cincy-77

Doesn't everyone watch giant squid videos before breakfast???  I am actually quite astute on my giant squid knowledge these days, thank-you-very-much.

Gramaw comes to play...

...when Daddy's away.
