See that handsome kid on the right? That's my grandson Karter, who had his middle school sports debut last night at his first cross country meet.
Those other two runners are a couple of his best friends, Matt and Anna.
They have a small squad, coached by our friend CJ.
Anna's grandmama Peggy is one of my dearest friends and mentors...you will not find a more precious godlier woman than her. I adore these two!
And the boys are off!
Four Shenandoah runners vs. 19 runners from much-bigger Yorktown.
My sweet Karter in his lucky blue shoes!
The course is just shy of 2 miles long.
Bring it home, Karterman!
And that he did, placing 11th in a field of 23 runners his very first meet, with a personal best time of 16:11.
Such an awesome kid right there!
Run, Karter, run.
