Girls Gone Fishing

Fish-1

We've been wanting to do it all summer but something always seemed to get in the way.

But the day before they started first grade, Papaw and I squeezed in a morning of fishing with our sweet 6 1/2-year-olds Kelsey and Kassie.

And I do believe Papaw grabbed the wrong lifejackets for these two littles....

The passageway into nearby Province Pond can be a little tricky sometimes, but the water was up and we puttered right through.

It's a tiny little lake, but that's what I love about it.

We only had to share it with a couple of other fishermen.

And, of course, the many herons also fishing for their breakfast....

They put the fish in the live well for awhile...about 15 in all...

...and then tossed them back into the lake when it was time to head in.

A wonderful morning making memories with these little sweethearts...
