Fun Four Days
Always a Tiger

Cousins' Camaradarie

Gkids-8

Before I even begin sharing photos and stories of some cousin fun, a Monday morning grammar lesson for you.

I pass along a warning someone once gave me...if you aren't careful you might learn something new every day.

So you can file this in the category of "Who Knew/Who Cares?"...but I can't keep my new tidbit of grammar knowledge to myself.  I looked up the word "comradery" just to be sure I was spelling it correctly and found that, in fact, I was correctly spelling the misspelling of the word "camaradarie" that has wormed its way into our vocabulary trying to legitimize itself.  Not on my watch!  :)

And so, "camaradarie" it is....who am I to buck the English grammatical system?!

While Abram and Lucy (and brother Daniel too...although Daniel is not yet old enough to enjoy the camaradarie) were staying at the cabin for a few days, we all enjoyed a couple of visits from their cousins Krew and Juni who are also 5- and 3-years-old.

Krew and Abram were born just 6 weeks apart, and when they get together these days they are inseparable.

They do the stuff boys of all ages love...wrestling and pillow fights....until Gramaw has to step in to keep the cabin intact.

They have lots of common interests...dinosaurs, science experiments, imagining then creating things, getting hot and dirty and sweaty (love me a sweaty-boy hug!).

And they are my treasure collectors, always scouring the property for something interesting like a stray velociraptor claw or prehistoric fossil or volcanic rock.

Gmas-36

You know...TREASURES!  One can only assume these to be well-preserved dinosaur bones....

Cousins-1

While their brothers are doing boy stuff, the little sisters Lucy and Juni are enjoying girl time.

Cousins-4

"Reading" books to each other...oh, Gramaw's childhood favorite "Little Black Sambo"...those tigers chased each other so fast around that palm tree that they turned into melted butter.  Childhood magic, right there.

Cousins-5

Lucy got her hair supplies out of her suitcase...

...and put her bow into Juni's hair.

So sweet!

They took turns pushing each other on the swing...

...and followed the path through Gramaw's wildflower patch.

And then, like all good sisters do, tried to horn in on the boys' fun.

Cousins-13

But they just couldn't keep up.  Yet.

Since their brothers didn't want to include them in their boy adventures, I got out bubbles for the girls.

Meanwhile, Krew and Abram discovered a perfect spot for a "secret" hideout.

I'm loving the water bottle hanging there....

They had fun just climbing up and jumping down.

When Papaw got home, the cousin crew went with him to pick some grass and throw to the chickens.

Cousins were so important in my life growing up, and it thrills my heart to see their love growing for each other.

Building memories and special bonds that will last forever...
