T-Ball Debut

Abrmbb-1

We have another Gray baseball player...5-year-old Abram played his very first baseball game on Sunday.

Abrmbb-4

Our youngest son Kyler, who was a great baseball player himself back in the day, is coaching Abram's t-ball team.  Piece of cake, right?

After the first practice, I think Kyler truly realized how complicated the game of baseball is and there is a LOT to teach 5-year-olds.

Abrmbb-3

But the cuteness factor overrides their lack of baseball knowledge and skills...

Abrmbb-3

This fella...be still Gramaw's heart!  How is he old enough to play baseball???

Abrmbb-3

Go team!  Abram's on the far right, glove in the air, ready to play!

Abrmbb-9

Eager for his very first at-bat...

Abrmbb-9

Papaw wonders if it's fair that Abram had to face a 6' 5" leftie on his first at-bat...

Abrmbb-9
Abrmbb-9

Not quite....

Abrmbb-14
Abrmbb-14

"See the ball, hit the ball."  I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard that phrase at a baseball diamond.

Just another lesson to learn...

Abrmbb-14

After a few pitches from their coach, they hit off the T.

Abrmbb-14
Abrmbb-14

Oh yeah, baby...first hit ever!

Abrmbb-20

Runner at first....

Abrmbb-20

...safe at second!

Abrmbb-20
Abrmbb-20

Woo-hoo!

Abrmbb-30

Clearly ready to run on a base hit...

Abrmbb-27
Abrmbb-27
Abrmbb-27

And he's off....

Abrmbb-27
Abrmbb-27

And he scores!  Although no one is keeping score....everyone scores in this game!

Abrmbb-33

Let the in-field shenanigans begin...

Abrmbb-33

Keep an eye on these two...and that kid in the foreground...

Abrmbb-33

When I asked Abram how baseball was going, he told me all was great, the ONLY thing he needed to work on not playing in the dirt.

But playing in the dirt is half the fun!

Abrmbb-33

Abrmbb-48

Abrmbb-48

In my limited t-ball experience, usually at the beginning of the season the kids don't even go after a hit ball...they just all stand there and watch.  At least Kyler's crew goes after the ball.

Abrmbb-48

With a vengeance.

And grab the ball away from each other...

Abrmbb-48

There's just so much fun happening here, it makes me smile!  Baseball should be all about fun!

Abrmbb-48

Abrmbb-53
Abrmbb-53
Kyler tried his best to keep the shenanigans to a minimum,...

Abrmbb-40x

...but we all know the coach doesn't see everything!  (No, that's not our grandson!)

Abrmbb-54

Just so many cute and funny photos!

Abrmbb-54

The coach's biggest success of the day is keeping all but one (there's always one!) of his players from running through the mudhole right in front of the dugout.

So, so, soooo tempting!!!!

Abrmbb-67

The ball was not so fortunate....

Abrmbb-67

Oh my goodness...adorableness!

Abrmbb-67

Abrmbb-62

Abram's fan section!  Grandma Peggy is hidden behind Momma Kara...

Abrmbb-62

Little sister Lucy has a lot of bleacher time in store for her...

Abrmbb-62
Abrmbb-62

Concentration...those wheels in Abram's cute little head are always turning...

Abrmbb-71

And the best part?  Always...after-game snacks!

Abrmbb-71

Watching this sweet Abram grow up is so much fun!  A great baseball beginning...

His t-ball debut.

There is always that one kid! 🤣 Also, love that Abram says he just needs to work on not playing in the dirt. Love that boy!!
