Just Beachy

Diorama-7

When I asked my just-turned-5-year-old grandson Abram what he wanted for his birthday and he told me he wanted a retractable beach with sand and where the water moved over the sand, I was pretty sure I couldn't have that delivered from Amazon.

(Believe me, if I could order a beach for delivery I've have done that long ago...)

So what's a Gramaw to do except load up her craft supplies and help this sweet boy to make a beach?

I'm no engineer by any stretch of the imagination, but this was the best I could come up with....

Of course little sister Lucy, who will be 3 on Sunday but is definitely way beyond a normal 2-year-old, was not to be left beachless.

Oh my goodness, they LOVED the project!

Caulk, paint, sand, and especially free reign over a bottle of glue...a child's dream, right?

Diorama-4

We added sea creatures for a realistic effect....  lol

Pay no attention to Baby Daniel on the floor, destroying and chewing whatever he could get his hands on while we were otherwise occupied...

Who ME???  Look at that precious little innocent face...

My sweet daughter-in-law is very tolerant of Gramaw's crazy projects.  And she was especially thrilled with me (oh yes, she was) for giving the rest of that bottle of glue to Abram and Lucy for future projects.  Good thing she loves me...

As ordered, a retractable beach.  (Yes, it is retractable in a very primitive sort of way...)

Abram was happy.  Lucy was happy.  And that made Gramaw happy.

Just beachy.

They loved it! We spent a lot of time yesterday checking on it to see if they were dry ;) They couldn’t wait to show Daddy when he got home! Thanks for the fun!!
