So Happy Together

Together-3

Barb, Mama, and I flew from frigid Indianapolis into the sunshine of Gainesville, Florida last Friday, where we rented a minivan and met Maria and her daughter Seanna (who got out of school mid-day to see us) in Alachua at a charming restaurant called The Conestoga.

We drove to our Airbnb rental house on the Sante Fe river....

What a beautiful and peaceful place!

Oh, don't be deceived...that quietness didn't last long after the House bunch invaded!

We sure had a lot of long talks and laughter on this deck...

This is where I slept and Mark slept...not at the same time.  Mark found the bed quite "al-LURING"...yes, he still loves puns and corny jokes.

After us girls were all settled in and settled down (somewhat...), our "baby" brother Mark flew in from San Antonio the next day and stirred things up again, as he always does.

When he climbed into our van, I could swear I saw a glimpse of my Daddy right there...those eyes and that expression.  It wouldn't be the last time Daddy's presence would be felt over the weekend.  Although he's in Heaven now, Daddy was very much a part of the entire weekend.  You'll understand what I mean later...

Mama is happy when she's around her boy!  Since he lives in Texas, she doesn't get to see him often.

Together-21

Mark always brings an extra level of frivolity and silliness to the mix.  Not that we don't do pretty well on our own...but he puts it over the top!

Together-21

Seanna, now a 13-year-old 8th-grader, enjoyed hanging around with us.

My one complaint about the area where we stayed is the lack of dining options.  And we surely don't want to be cooking a lot while we're on vacation.  Mark scoped out this pizza joint but that's EXACTLY what it was, a "joint"...and I suspect it had seen plenty of joints inside and out!  So we ordered a pizza to go instead...

Together-21

Glad we ordered a "large".... I don't think pizzas are their specialty...

Maria tried on Mark's boots.  This photo cracks me up as it makes her look like a giant!  She's tall, but not THAT tall!  An optical illusion....

As always (it's my duty as the eldest and wisest...), I tried to enlighten my family with new important life information.  Like how to pose for the most flattering portrait.  One should push one's head forward slightly (it feels awkward but looks good) in order to tighten up the neck muscles and eliminate the double and triple chins.  Mark was so gracious as to demonstrate the proper and improper technique for me.

Seanna has recently taken up horsemanship and modeled her new equestrian attire for us.  She has her first show this weekend.

A few short days but we sure did cram in lots of love!

So happy together.

Terry, this is wonderful. I love your family and love that you share so much with the rest of us. That picture of Mark getting in the van certainly does look like your dad. You all look marvelous, and happy.
