Forsythe Mill Covered Bridge

Covrdbridge-6

On my way home from Cincinnati this week, I decided to take a detour.

Covrdbridge-1

About a mile into my 9-mile detour, I was trying to decide if I had made a foolish decision.  The county road I was on was snow-covered, drifted, and quite treacherous at times and I never saw another vehicle.

Covrdbridge-1

But the lure of a snow-frosted covered bridge is strong and overrode my better judgment.

Covrdbridge-2

What a beauty, a Hoosier treasure!

I do love me an old-fashioned covered bridge...

Covrdbridge-2

Built in 1888...that makes it 130 years old and it's been maintained in great shape.

Covrdbridge-4

Still drivable...although it had seen very little traffic in recent days.  The blizzard winds had pushed snow inside the bridge.

Covrdbridge-2

Worth a few nerve-wracking moments of driving in nasty conditions...

The Forsythe Mill covered bridge.
