But we certainly aren't complaining...last year at this time, they were living in Charlotte, North Carolina, about a 9-hour drive! We are thrilled they are closer to home so we can enjoy special nights like 4 1/2-year-old Abram's Preschool Christmas program.
Yes we did.
We joined grandparent forces with Kara's parents/our close friends Jeff and Peggy and drove 1 hour and 45 minutes for a 15-minute Christmas program.
Abram was SOOO EXCITED for his big performance!
Seeing him and his adorable 2 1/2-year-old sister Lucy and 7-month-old brother Daniel made it totally worth the long drive!
Before the program...Abram and Lucy with their friends, cute little twin girls that they've known from birth who are also in Abram's class this year.
Thumbs up from our star of the show!
And a wave...just to be sure we all know he's there!
The 12 students in Abram's class...
"Away in a manger, no crib for a bed...the little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head..."
Abram sang out loud and knew all the motions. No stage fright for our little guy!
And then, the teachers handed out the bells.... "Jingle bells...."
There is nothing that puts me more in a Christmas spirit than children singing. And dancing...and just enjoying the moment!
We were stunned at the huge audience for just 38 children. And I think Peggy and I were the only people with "real" cameras. I had to snap this quick shot from the back of all the cell phone photographers...yes, I am old-school when it comes to photography (although my iPhone camera does come in handy sometimes!).
Each child received a Christmas bag....
Abram is always animated! He is so full of joy and energy, it makes us smile just thinking about him!
Abram with his teacher Mrs. Jenni...and a little photo bomb from Lucy. Girlfriend will NOT be left out of anything!
We are so very blessed to share these three grandbabies with our dear friends. We have been friends with Jeff and Peggy for over 25 years...sharing grandbabies makes our friendship even more special!
Of course, we passed Daniel around for plenty of snuggles! Such a sweet boy...
Yes, it did make for a long, extra-busy December day.
But totally worth the drive.
