Friendly Competition

It's been a short-but-fun Y basketball season for our kindergarten twins Kassie (middle) and Kelsey (2nd from right). Oh, and their wonderful coach, their daddy/my son Kristoffer.
The girls were especially excited when the opposing team included one of their best friends. Myles is in their kindergarten class, and if you ask them who their best school friends are his name always comes up.
Myles and Kassie and Kelsey represent the new generation of Shenandoah Raider basketballers. Myles's parents were Shenandoah teammates of my children almost 20 years ago (yikes...I'm getting old!) and now I get to watch the offspring of all these former Raider star athletes take the court.
Myles's younger brother Maddox is on his team too. So we enjoyed the watching the duos duel it out on the basketball court.
Maddox with the shot...
Kassie with the rebound and "fast" break....
Myles shoots...
And now it's Kelsay's turn.
In my totally unbiased grandma opinion, the future Raiders were the best players on their respective teams. Just sayin'...watch out future Trojans!
Myles gets a little hair-in-the face from Kelsey...
Myles determinedly battled the Gray girls for the basketball...
Maddox on the move!
Kelsey tries to block Myles's shot...
Kelsey defending one of her best school buddies...
Nice basket, Kass!
Congrats from Coach Dad!
Defensive match-up...Kassie definitely has the size advantage over Maddox....
Kelsey skies to defend the shot...on the 6' goal...
Maddox splits the defense, like I watched his mommy and daddy do hundreds of times a "few" years ago...
Kelsey shoots, as Myles tries to block out for the rebound...
Water break for Kels...
Maddox was so cute, jumping to touch the net every time down the court. It was a stretch for him, but he did it!
Myles with the shot...
Kelsey playing intense defense as the brothers pass the ball. Not quite sure what the rest of the players are doing under the basket, though....
I don't think Maddox can quite block Kelsey yet...
Myles is a cute kid...sporting his family's trademark blond hair and athletic ability.
Although no official score is kept in this teaching league, our official numbers' guys on the bench kept us informed of the score throughout, and the red team had the upper hand.
But no one really cared. The girls said it was great fun playing against their friends Myles and Maddox, and that's what it's all about.
Friendly competition.
