Even Smaller Wonder

Gymn-209

See that adorable little girl leading the team?  That's Evelyn, my 3rd-grade friend from our church family.

Evelyn's mommy Jamie grew up just around the corner from our house, and was part of our church family as a young girl.  I lost contact with Jamie as she grew up, went to college, and got married.  I didn't know Evie when she was born very prematurely...she really is a living miracle!  But a few years ago, Jamie's family came back into our lives and I've gotten to know Evelyn through the children's programs in our church.

These are the younger Small Wonders gymnasts, and they competed in the later session after Lydia and Emily were finished.

Evelyn is doing a fantastic job overcoming a bit of a mental struggle with the balance beam.

Evie's mental toughness shined through and she did a great job on her nemesis apparatus!

A very cool move on the floor...rolling up into a handstand.

Awesome routine, Evelyn!

She had 2 more rotations left to compete in, but it was getting too late for this old girl who was getting bleacher-butt.  I definitely want to catch her in action again soon and stay for the whole thing.

Evelyn is a whole lot more than just a cute face...

She is a fighter with a fierce spirit...

...an even smaller wonder!
