Double Dribblers

Kasskelsbb-1

Our 6-year-old twins Kelsey and Kassie just began their basketball season, with Daddy Kristoffer as their team's coach.

They are playing in a Pre-K/Kindergarten league...

...and I'm not bragging or exaggerating when I say they are head-and-shoulders above their teammates both in size and ability.

I dubbed them "double dribblers" because of their twin-ness, but in this league, it's totally okay to double-dribble.  In fact, it's a good thing because that means they are actually TRYING to dribble the basketball instead of just running with it!

Rumor has it that at the first practice, Kristoffer told a little girl to dribble the basketball.  She put it on the floor, kicked it, then plopped herself flat down on the floor in front of him.

Let me just say, Kristoffer is a very, very patient man...

They may not be super-skilled, but the action gets fast and furious at times...

Kelsey goes after it on both ends!

Go Kassie-girl, go!

Kassie (#10) brings her dance form to the hardwood...

Way to fake out your defender, Kels (#2)!

Kasskelsbb-12

A little high-5 from the coach!

Gotta love a team huddle where the coach holds a player on his knee...

Quite a change from the 5th- and 3rd-grade boys' teams Kristoffer is used to coaching!

Kasskelsbb-23

Dana is Team Mom...someone's gotta keep the bench wigglers on the bench!

Most of the game, the girls were not on the court at the same time.  In the Y league, you gotta maximize your limited talent pool...

Kasskelsbb-34

I love the look of determination on Kelsey's face as she hustles back on defense!

Kasskelsbb-36

Dana (like Kristoffer) was also a very good high school basketball player, so she makes a good coach from the sidelines!

Besides her obvious skill for herding cats....

Kasskelsbb-36

Toward the end of the game, the sisters got to play on the court together.  Kelsey passed the ball in to Kassie...

Nice shot, Kass!

They do not keep score in the league, which in this game worked in our favor.  But we did make several shots!

Kasskelsbb-43

The next few years are going to be so much fun as we watch them grow and develop as beautiful girls and skilled basketball players.

That's so awesome that Kristoffer coaches them too!
