When You Take a Boy Fishing...

When you take a boy fishing,
...you've got someone who is glad to take care of the worms...
If you're lucky, you might get to witness his Daddy pretending to be (in his words, not mine) Sacagawea...
You get to share the best hours of the day together in God's quiet, peaceful, beautiful Creation...
...when you take a boy fishing.
When you take a boy fishing, you get to see the light in his eyes as he reels in the very first catch of the morning.
A mighty fine bluegill!
When you take a boy fishing, you get the bonus of seeing the little boy side of his daddy again.
And watch his Papaw having fun too!
When you take a boy fishing, he explains why he "doesn't like to touch slimy things" even though he delights in killing/picking up dead flies and loves digging in the dirt, a fact Gramaw never knew.
Slimy things do not seem to bother Daddy Kyler at all!
A biology lesson about fish anatomy is always a must...
...when you take a boy fishing.
When you take a boy fishing, you discover they learn things much quicker than Gramaw and enjoy giving lessons on the proper casting technique.
Abram was pretty darn good at it!
You realize that boys never really grow up...
...when you take a boy fishing.
That, by the way, is a very small large mouth bass that got tossed back into the pond.
When you take a boy fishing, sometimes Gramaw gets stuck holding a fishing pole for him and a fish happens to bite!
All that hard work makes him thirsty...
...and hungry,...
...when you take a boy fishing.
When you take a boy fishing and you reel in 40 (even though you don't keep any of them), it's a been a good morning.
And when Gramaw sees an osprey circling overhead, that makes it an even BETTER morning!
I can't think more wonderful way for Gramaw and Papaw to spend a summer Saturday morning...
...than to take a boy fishing.
