It was a busy day for our church, as we are heavily involved in many of the activities of Community Days. Saturday morning started with our 9th annual 5K Run in the SON, starting at our church and finishing at the Community Building.

Zach (far left) and Dana (2nd from right) helped with the run, as well as Emily (who was handing out water on the course and I didn't get a photo of).

Some of my favorite people in the whole world were there...including my friends Peggy and Rita, sporting this year's 5K shirts.

But my very favorite participants were my son Kristoffer and 9-year-old grandson Karter, who finished near the front of the pack with a time of 28 minutes and something.

Great job, Kman!  Way to represent!

Dave hates having his picture taken, so I treasure this one that he allowed. I think he's actually WAVING at me! He was cold...hence the gloves and flannel blanket. He may seem all tough and gruff, but he's the biggest teddy bear around.

Our church provides chicken and noodles for lunch, under Kim's leadership.  

Vanessa's arms surely were tired after mashing all of those potatoes! Yes, REAL potatoes...Kim would NEVER go for the instant variety.

Parade time!  

And yes the sheriff's department does completely shut down US Highway 36 for the parade. Chill out, folks...it only lasts about 10 minutes!

I found some fun peeps to watch the parade with...Kamaron and Anique and my grandbabies Juni and Krew.

I teased my friend Brian and Jenni that they must be getting old to be Grand Marshals. Look at their cute crew of grandsons!

Kamaron's friend and classmate Chris made sure Krew and Juni got a handful of candy.

Big controversy has split our county and community. I have dear friends on both sides, but all other arguments aside I have to admit the thought of those turbines ruining our beautiful country landscape sickens me. Sometimes "progress" isn't all it's cracked up to be and some things are a lot more important than money...

Of course, no parade around these parts is complete without its share of vintage tractors.

Chris works for Farmer JB and does a lot of the tilling of our ground.

Gotta put those horses at the end!

Always a fun weekend, but always glad when it's over for another year...
