Random Thursday Thoughts

Misc-5

Our tandem has had its spring tune-up and is ready to hit the road.

We haven't ridden it for the past two summers.  Rectal cancer and bicycle seats are not a winning combination.

But I'm "rearing" (pun intended!) to go now and plan to get my man riding with me very soon.  My high school classmate J graciously got it road-ready for us and I picked it up yesterday...it was all we could do to get it in the VeraCruz.  The bike is a monster!

Can't wait to ride it again!  But not in this wicked WIND we've been having.  We shall wait for a calm day...

Speaking of wicked wind, how in the WORLD is the honeyhouse still standing???!!!!

This iconic landmark on Mama's property has been there, we guess, for nearly 100 years.  Obviously, it's seen better days and is awaiting a wave of ambition to hit us and we will spend a day bringing it down.  That beautiful weathered siding is valuable (to us!) and we want to salvage as much as possible.

But seriously, HOW does it keep STANDING?!  It looks like one big gust should bring it toppling down....

Kim took me to a new Italian restaurant on Saturday evening and it's surely a winner in our book!

The downside is that it's a bit of a drive...all the way to McCordsville, about 40 minutes away from the cabin.  The upside is that it is TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!

The most delicious calzones I've ever put in my mouth (enough for 3 meals!) and the garlic bread was out-of-this-world-spectacular!

You can find it next door to a bait-and-tackle shop...

Speaking of restaurants, it's hard to beat simple Willow Springs in Hagerstown.  Mama and Barb and I lunched there yesterday.  Tiny, quaint, and good cooking!

Wednesdays with Mama and Barb are always fun.  It doesn't take a lot to entertain us...a whole lotta laughter happens over basically nothing.  Yesterday I walked into the kitchen and Mama was holding a small empty glass, proudly exclaiming (I thought!) that she had just finished her morning booze.  WHO IS THIS WOMAN and WHERE IS MY MAMA???  I was speechless for a few seconds.  But apparently she had said "Boost" not "booze"...and the laughter began and didn't stop for the next 4 hours!

A visit to Mama's usually entails some sort of mission for the day.  Yesterday's 4 missions:  find her lost Bible, find her lost keys, find her lost car title (yes...there is a pattern there...), and delete old texts from her iPhone.

All four missions were accomplished in the first half-hour of the visit.  Praise God for small victories!  Oh, and I also used my considerable detective skills to discover the mystery identity of someone who texted her but was not in her contact list.  (It wasn't too hard...but I'm breaking my arm patting myself on the back anyway...)

So we enjoyed lunch at Willow Springs and a stop in town at The Dairy for an ice cream cone. Just because.

And there you have them, a few of my (yes, there are MORE but I spared you...)...

...random Thursday thoughts.

Your tandem bike brings back memories. My best girlhood friend had a tandem bike. We had so much fun on that thing! I have never known anyone else who had one. Now I do!

Awe...thanks! We LOVE small town Mom & Pop places to eat. Adding to "my list" :)
