Good Times in Carolina

Kykara-116

It was a quick, too-short visit to South Carolina, but oh-so-worth-it to love on our sweet grandbabies!

Kykara-5

Abram turned 3 years old while we were there.

Kykara-38

He is just a DELIGHTful child who makes me smile even now, just thinking about him!

Kykara-15

And then there's little melt-my-heart Lucy...

Abrmbdy-43

They just don't come any more precious than this adorable 11-month-old!

Kykara-12

Besides the big birthday celebrations on Saturday, here's a glimpse into our other days with the Carolina kids.

Papaw loves to "get" and tickle his grandkids!  They love it too!

(Do you like my colorful shoes???  Very comfy...I love them!)

Kykara-14

Naptimes are all-important and highly-anticipated events!  Daddy Kyler, after a nap himself, brings his two babies downstairs...

Kykara-23

Lucy gets in a few Mommy-snuggles from Kara...

Kykara-29

She's on the move these days!  Soon she'll be running all over the place...

Kykara-48

Of course, we've gotta eat...and although Kara is a terrific cook, it's fun to go out and try new restaurants.

They'd never eaten at The Pump House,...

Kykara-49

Kykara-56

...located right on the Catawba River.

Kykara-50

Southern delicacies...fried okra...

Kykara-53

Seafood stew for Kim...

Kykara-54

...and shrimp and grits for me.

Oh. My. GOODNESS!  Soooo YUMMMMMMYYYYY!!!!

Kykara-51

Miss Lucy had her own stash...plus begged some of Daddy's food.

Kykara-52

Calamari for Abram...

Kykara-58

...and a birthday surprise!

(Somewhere between the calamari and the birthday cake a water spill happened that soaked Abram...thankfully Mommy Kara was prepared with a spare shirt packed!)

Kykara-60

Yep, he loved it!

He loved it almost as much as...

Kykara-65

...pushing the elevator button.

Kykara-63

Happy Birthday Boy!

Kykara-79

Since I already posted about Saturday's birthday shenanigans, fast-forward to Sunday morning...

Kykara-80

...which began with worship at their new church, Transformation Church.

Yes, they have volunteers parking cars!  A tad bit bigger than the church they both grew up in...our little Sulphur Springs church.

Kykara-94

Sunday afternoon playtime, naps, and photo shoot (not to worry...you'll see those photos soon!)...

Kykara-97

...then off for Sunday supper at another new restaurant.

Back in August when the movers were packing the kids' furniture up in Cincinnati, Kyler asked one of the guys who was born and raised in the Charlotte area for restaurant recommendations. He couldn't stop raving about Captain Steve's.

Kykara-98

Kykara-103

And we could see why.  Captain Steve's did not disappoint!

ALL of these fried baby shrimp and onion rings, this whole meal (which I could only eat half of!) for $8.99. And it was DELICIOUS!!!

Kykara-100

Abram wasn't too fond of the lemon...

Kykara-102

...but it didn't phase Lucy at all.

My mouth puckers just LOOKING at this photo!

Kykara-104

Back home for snuggles (trust me...this moment was brief, but sweet)...

Kykara-106

...and play time.  While Abram was distracted, Lucy took advantage to play with his new Smokey cat...

Kykara-111

...and car.

Kykara-108

A headstand demonstration...

Kykara-109

He's still got it!

Kykara-110

Abram wants to learn, but the boy's too limber and bendable right now!

Kykara-114

A quick photo before bedtime!  Love these happy, busy babies!

Kykara-117

Monday morning came all too soon...time to head back north to Indiana.

Abrmlcy-15

After a few days full of...

....good times in Carolina.
