Christmas Mornings Past
Bring on 2017!

"Wise Guys and Starry Skies"

Wsegys-6

We started in September...I had wanted to do a children's Christmas musical at our church last year, but my health got in the way.  So this was the year...14 of the sweetest, most talented children that you will ever meet just happen to attend our church, and they made their director (that's me in the back...the one with the crazy hair...guess I was a bit "harried" that day...) VERY PROUD!

These littlest ministers of our church range in age from 4 years (my twin granddaughters, who were little cooks second and third from the right) to 5th grade (my sweet friend Ashley, on the far left, who I've loved on since she was a tiny babe).  Kaden was King Gaspar (yellow headdress) and Karter was Jesse (in brown holding the blue-saddled camel), a wanna-be Wise Guy who joins the kings' caravan on their trek to Bethlehem.

The seven main characters had lots of dialogue to memorize, which they did amazingly well!  And all 14 cast members learned several songs.  They all absolutely FLOORED me and brought me to tears many times with their dedication, hard work, and beautiful voices.

I certainly COULD NOT have done it without the parents!  They took care of the set...

...and the costumes.  Plus the obvious commitment of having their children at rehearsals for 3 months. It's a lot...I know that...and I so APPRECIATE them!

I do believe it's the first time I've ever seen my son Kristoffer (left) wielding a glue gun!

On December 11, we brought it to the "big stage"...

...and blessed everyone in the audience that night.

A few scenes from the performance (taken by my son-in-law Zach...thanks, Zach!)....

One of the highlights of the musical was Karter's solo in the song "My Gift is Me." My heart was exploding with pride! Twenty-five years ago, his daddy Kristoffer played Jesse in this very same musical and sung this very same song....

We did it!!!  "Hi Mom/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa!"

A blessing to all, and especially this sentimental Gramaw-Director...
