Run, Karter, Run!

Kar5k-2

I think we have a little runner on our hands!

Our church hosted a 5K (3.1 miles, for those non-runners out there...) over the weekend, in conjunction with the annual Sulphur Springs Community Days, and our oldest grandson 8-year-old Karter wanted to sign up.

That's our boy in the white shirt and red shorts.  This is Karter's second 5K...he ran one earlier in the summer and discovered that he's a pretty good little runner!

His mommy Dana was at the run's mid-point turnaround, handing out water to the runners on the very hot, muggy day and snapped this quick shot of Karter and Kristoffer.

Looking good, Karterman!  (And Kristoffer too!)

Meanwhile, I was at the finish line with my camera when they rounded the final turn and headed home.

Kar5k-5

I've seen that look of determination before in the eyes of his daddy!

Aunt Emmy was there with his time...30:34, pretty darn good for those short legs on an extremely hot morning!  Karter was the third kid to finish...the ones in front of them were runners for their middle school team, so several years older and lots more experienced.

His good friend Anna was there to give him a cold bottle of water.

Hangin' with the big boys...

His good friend Drew, also 8, ran too.  Those are two great boys, there!

Comparing race notes....

I see lots more races in this boy's future.  Love him to pieces!

Run, Karter, run!
