I'm BACK...for a Few Days...
On Fire!

How We Roll

Fl-2

We had barely rolled into Fanning Springs, Florida (the word "into" is used very loosely...you pretty much roll "into" and "out of" Fanning Springs at the same time...) before we were scoping out our afternoon ice cream stop.

Fl-1

If there was anything we did consistently on our trip, it was drink coffee and eat ice cream...usually multiple times each day!  How perfect that there is a nearby place that satisfies both "needs"...with the bonus of a daily Happy Hour when coffee is just $1!

Fl-5

Maria's new rental house is in a very quiet neighborhood that I suspect has mostly retirees there.  As my niece Seanna astutely noted, "There are a lot of wheelchair ramps."

Fl-12

We picked Seanna up from school, and she proudly showed off her newest interest...she is starting band and learning to play the trumpet.

Fl-9

"Do you want to hear me play, Grandma?"

Sure...Grandma Lois obviously can hardly contain her excitement...ha, ha!

Fl-14

Seanna is thrilled with her new room...she picked out her comforter herself!

Fl-15

Aunt Barb helped Seanna finish her homework...

Fl-18

...then we hopped in the car for a quick bite at a nearby diner, the 19/98 Grill.

Fl-17

Yep, we are in the South.  Land of the Good Ole Boys....

Fl-20

Fl-21

Even John Wayne hangs out here!

Wyfb-3

After supper, we headed to Trenton High School to watch my nephew Wyatt play a football game.  (That's him, #40 in black, getting ready to smash that player into the ground!).  More about the game in tomorrow's post, but let me just say it was the HOTTEST game I have ever watched, and I have watched a LOT of football games...

Fl-25

Aunt Terry braiding Seanna's hair before bedtime...

Fl-45

The weather is very hot and tropical, and Maria's house had been vacant for awhile before she moved in.  So she's battling palmetto bugs...she'd set bug bombs all around and they were dying right and left.  BIG bugs!!!  YUCK!!!

Fl-29

Which prompted Maria to store her silverware and a few other things temporarily in the oven.  By the time we left, the monster bugs seemed to be pretty much gone...thank goodness!

Fl-30

Breakfast at BBQ Bill's...

Fl-31

Maria and her son Wyatt, a 14-year-old freshman...at almost 6 feet tall and 195 lbs., he's a force to be reckoned with on the athletic field, but a very sweet kid!

Fl-33

Maria's house is surrounded by woods hanging with Spanish moss...

Fl-34

...and palmetto plants, which are pretty to look at but harbor those nasty big bugs!

Fl-40

Seanna (11 years old) and Grandma Lois...

Fl-43

Wyatt gave up his room and bed for Grandma and slept on the floor.  When he wasn't playing with his phone...

Fl-42

Maria's friend Robin is a treasure!  She has helped Maria get through some very tough times and has been a wonderful friend and sister-substitute for Maria.  We were glad to finally get to meet her.

Fl-44

Morning coffee time...

Fl-47

Seanna modeled her mermaid tail for us...

Fl-49

We had some delicious seafood at the local Lighthouse Restaurant.

Family-1

A quick sister-selfie before bedtime.  I LOVE my SEESTAS!!!!

Fl-51

Breakfast with the gang before heading north...

Family-2

If it seems like our days are filled with coffee, silliness, coffee, laughter, food, lazing around, ice cream, craziness, and more food...your observations are correct.

That's how we roll.
