Small Town Shindig
07/05/2016
The idea began two years ago with my two oldest children and some of their friends brainstorming the possibility of hosting a fireworks display for our small town.
Last year, they made it happen! And this year was even bigger and better!
It was a bit on the chilly side, but that didn't stop the children from loving the two waterslides.
Here comes Ethan!
Aubrey is always smiling!
Anna and Lydia...
Paige braces for the splash!
Kassie and Kelsey taking a little break...
Luke gets drenched!
Pastor CJ consults with the local fire department, who launched the fireworks for us.
The church trustees were our official parking attendants for the event.
Sam manned the church information booth...
Kim, Rosie, and Dan kept busy cooking burgers and dogs...
...for the crowd.
Evelyn in her patriotic headband...
Our own tattoo artist, Ginny, applied temporary tattoos...
...to kids of all ages!
Karter...
Kassie...
Kristoffer organized a cornhole competition...
...with Kyle and Jeff winning the coveted golden beanbags (as well as a couple of gift cards).
Everyone staked out their fireworks viewing spots...
...and then did lots of visiting!
Leann chatting with the Morton clan...
Emily organized kids' games while we were waiting on darkness to fall...
...and then all the kids got sparklers!
Anna...
Jeff with his little son Easton...
Drew...
Kassie wasn't too sure about holding hers...
Kristoffer helping Kaden and Karter...
That's a lot of sparkling going on!!!
Right before the fireworks began, each family lit and released a lantern.
Very, very cool!
The grand finale to the event...a 30-minute fireworks display that was AWESOME!!!
About 225 people were there to watch the fireworks which, by the way, were very impressive! The fire department did an incredible job setting them off!
We may be a little country church, but we know how to have fun and put on a terrific...
...small town shindig!
So very humbled to be a part of such an amazing church family. So sad we missed it.

Those are the prettiest fireworks photos I have ever seen. Great job covering the whole event! You are a natural reporter!

Sorry we missed it, but loved the 85 degree weather in Michigan!
