We've driven past it hundreds of times, a distinctive landmark not far inside the North Carolina border.

Pilot Mountain.  

Aka, as Kim affectionately calls it, Nipper Knob.  (Yes, that's my husband...)

You didn't think we'd drive all that way to North Carolina without spending at least a little time on the water, did you?

The three of us...Mama, Barb, and I...left Pee Dee and headed across the state Down East to see Mama's two sisters and their families that live near the coast.

One thing we discovered...6 days of non-stop visiting is exhausting!  Fun...but exhausting! I didn't know we could talk ourselves out, but I think we sure came close!!!

The next morning, we spent time with 3 more of Mama's siblings, first stopping to see her brother Earl and his family.

Several of Mama's siblings and extended family live in the Pee Dee/Mt. Gilead area, so we spent the weekend catching up with all 5 siblings and lots of nieces and nephews.

Mama's sister Bernice graciously invited a few of us over one morning.

After a great night's sleep, Barb, Mama, and I set out to visit Mama's only living Britt aunt, Harriett, who lives with her daughter Martha.

We put the address into the GPS and were sure we had been directed into the wrong neighborhood...but nope, this is where they live!

A couple of weeks ago, my sister Barb and me (in back) embarked on quite the week-long adventure with our Mama.
