Busy Bees

Snow-1

Before this happened over the weekend...

Snow-4

...(yes, those are some sad, frozen daffodils...),

...THIS happened.  Our lone apricot tree was in full, glorious bloom when I snapped this photo on March 29.

Apr-24

We can never remember it blooming as early as March.

And, unfortunately, I'm sure the snow and hard freezes of the past several days have made the anticipation of fresh apricots a moot point for another year.

Apr-25

But even if we won't get to reap its benefits this year, the honeybees sure did!

But it wasn't just a pollen party for honeybees...the carpenter bees crashed the party...

Apr-6

We fight carpenter bees, who want to make their home in the logs of our cabin, but I guess they do serve a useful purpose as pollinators.  I just wish they'd find somewhere else to set up housekeeping!

Snow-2

The past several days the bees, like me, have been hunkered down against the unseasonable cold.

I bet they wish they had a cozy fireplace to hunker down beside, like I do...

But just two weeks ago, in the warm spring sunshine, they were...

...busy bees.
