Tiny Harbingers

I always look forward to the appearance of these teensy flowers, which grow under a tree near a historic home in New Castle.

I have no idea what they are called, but the purple ones bloom first...

...and then the white ones join the party.

I'm sure they've been there for decades, planted when this old home was in its heyday and the tree that shades them was still in its youth.

Amazing to me how they faithfully come up and brighten the old flagstone path year after year after year.

Tiny harbingers of spring.

It's neat that you watch for them every year. They sure are hardy plants.
