A Simple Cabin Christmas

Cabinchrist-6

I was probably one of the last folks in Henry County to get their Christmas tree.

Since we went to the beach, I didn't want to put a live tree up until after we got back.

One week ago, on December 15, I went to the tree farm to pick out our tree.  I usually get an 8' one, but this year the taller ones were gone and I had to settle for a 6.5' tree instead...but I think maybe I like it even better.

It's slim at the bottom...much more room for gifts (which I still haven't wrapped yet...).

My dear sweet friend Leann bought me these clip-on candles, complete with a remote control "On/Off".  PERFECT on my sweet little simple country tree!

Cabinchrist-3

Baby Jesus sleeping in a walnut shell has been on our tree for as long as I can remember. The best ornament on the tree!

Cabinchrist-4

A new ornament this year, brought home all the way from Talkeetna, Alaska.

And, of course, the fireplace makes everything cozy!  I love decorating it, and hanging Christmas cards we receive on our card tree.

That's pretty much it for our decorations!  I haven't felt the best this year and we decided to keep things low-key and focus on family and fellowship together...

...a simple cabin Christmas.

And I love it ..Our "baby Jesus in a nutshell" is placed the same place every year...the same place that Ryan Chapman placed it some 24 years ago when he received it at children's church...under the tree in our village...on the front door of the church. He said, "baby Jesus has to be by the church where he belongs." So that's where he has been ever since! Love it :)
