..."a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or a webcam and uploaded to a social media site."
I guess, technically, this is not a selfie since, even though I could have, I did not actually push the button myself. But it was taken by Krew's Grandma Dorothy on her smartphone and right now I am uploading it to a social media site (I'm counting my blog as such...it is social and uses media on a website...it counts in my book, at least for the purposes of this post!).
Isn't little Krew just adorable, snuggling with Gramaw after posing so sweetly for me on the antique sled in his cute, cute stocking hat?! He loves his Gramaw, yes he does!!!
The things I have against smartphone photos are they usually are not kind to skin tones and they are distorted, especially in a true selfie like the one below.
Whoops...how did that happen???!!!
Much better! I think....
Kaden and Karter wanted to take this photo when we were killing time waiting on our bill after eating at Pizza Hut the other night. (Selfies are good time-killers too!) My arm was hardly long enough to get us all in the shot.
The only reason I'd keep either of these photos is because they trigger memories with my precious grandsons that bring a smile to my face whenever I see them.
And isn't that the real reason we all love photos to begin with? Capturing memories, that's what it's all about.
And as distorted and grainy and blotchy as these snapshots are (compared to photos taken with my big ole Nikon DSLR), because of how they make me feel when I see them, I can't help but love these...
...two grandson selfies.
