Squirrel Count = 3
Guess the squirrels wanted to find a home out of the nasty weather, so they set up housekeeping in the attic of the rec room. We could hear them scampering above, not sure exactly what kind of critters they were except they were bigger than mice.
Kim lured them with nuts and they couldn't resist. So far he's caught 3 (he doesn't have the heart to kill a cute little squirrel, so he's taken them down the road a few miles and released them in the woods) and it sounds like there may still be another one or more up there...
If you enjoy true stories of courage and survival, about the incredible strength of the human spirit, you will LOVE this book as much as I did!
I'm not particularly a history buff and war strategy bores me to tears, but this saga is the human side of war and what it does to people. There's enough history stuff to make it all fit together, but this is a story of one man's amazing survival...from being an Olympic track star to surviving a plane crash and drifting in a liferaft on the ocean for 3 months, and when he was finally rescued it was by the enemy Japanese and his nightmare had only begun.
Trust me, I'm not an avid reader by any stretch of the imagination, but once you get into this book you'll have a hard time putting it down!
The human spirit and will to live is an incredibly powerful thing...
Unexpected surprises are the absolute best!
Well...expected surprises are pretty nice too...
I came home to find this beautiful lantern by my front door, a delivery from the local flower shop. It's months until my birthday and I just couldn't imagine what in the world it was.
A heartfelt note was attached from a dear sweet friend that brought tears of gratitude to my eyes for the wonderful people God has placed in my life. Thank you so much, Lee Ann...I LOVE it and I LOVE YOU!!!
Kim, having no sense of decorating style at all, calls it a "candle cage".....
My County Line homeplace in the snow.
My parents have lived there since before I was born. Many, many happy memories were made in that house.
A very special place, dear to my heart....
"Baby Kiwi" is 4 days past his due date. He's already proving himself to be a true do-it-my-way-in-my-time Gray man. The world needs another one of those...it really does!
Anique is hanging in there, even though Kiwi is reluctant to leave his warm cozy place. He's definitely running out of wiggle room and it won't be long now.
I'm keeping my phone with me at all times, and I'm ready to jump in the car and head to Indy as soon as he arrives. I LOVE being on Baby Watch!!!
And if he's born today, he'll share a birthday with his cousin Kaden, who is 4 years old today. Seems like just yesterday I spent a long, dark, COLD Minnesota night on Baby Watch for him. My how time flies and babies grow up!
So hopefully by Monday, I'll have a precious new grandson to introduce to you all!
Happy February!!!
