Ocean Debut
07/29/2013
The ocean is a huge, amazing, mysterious, magnificent adventure...especially the first time you experience it.
Our 9-month-old twin granddaughters, Kelsey and Kassie, experienced the ocean's awesome power for the very first time.
Neither of them were too thrilled the first time Papaw and Dana put their feet in the water.
In fact, they both cried.
For a couple of Indiana girls who see cornfields and hear birds sing, the roar of the ocean is scary stuff.
But every morning, Dana faithfully sunscreened them up, put on their darling little swimsuits and sun hats, and brought them down to the beach.
And eventually they began to like it.
Especially Kelsey...
Kassie tolerated it, but much prefered to nap on Papaw's lap.
Papaw didn't mind that much either!
Kelsey soon was crawling all over the place...
...the sand was no obstacle!
And sucking a sandy seashell...a real beach treat!
Kassie warmed up to the beach too, and even showed a few smiles.
And she loved sitting on Daddy's lap...as long as he kept her out of the water!
They sure were sweet...
...at their ocean debut.
Thank you, Teresa! Yes, we did make a lot of wonderful memories! I haven't forgotten about photographing your family...let me know when they'll be all together (not an easy task, I know) and we'll do it!
