SATURDAY SNAPSHOTS AND SNIPPETS

I thought we were done with this stuff.

I mean, I really do like SOME snow, but I'm over it now.  Those few 50+ degree days made me yearn for warm spring sunshine.

I think most other people I know are over the snow too.  Even though this heavy, wet snow would be perfect for making one, I haven't seen a single snowman yet since this latest winter storm hit.

Seems like this is the never-ending winter here in Indiana....

Will someone please get Karter a few more Silly Bandz?

The poor child is deprived...

Our little Kaden is really showing his personality these days.

Nearly all the time, he is grinning and happy and easy-going, but every once in awhile he gets his dander up.

And he lets the world know he is NOT HAPPY!!!

For the first time in my life, I personally KNOW a real-life Big Ten champion!

Our church's (and Shenandoah High School's) very own Kate Hillman finished 5th in the Big Ten diving championships (not too shabby for a freshman!) and Indiana University won the team championship!

But much more important than her prowess on the diving board, Kate is one TERRIFIC young lady...as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside!

A great time was had by all at the church Valentine's Dinner.

Good food, great fellowship, and a whole lot of laughter...a fun way to spend a Sunday evening.

My favorite part is always hearing people's sweetheart stories.

This year's award goes to one of my best friends Brenda, who left her husband Tim at a loss for words (believe me, that seldom happens!) as she shared a honeymoon story that may or may not have involved a pair of men's heart-printed boxer shorts...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR DADDY

Today is Dad's birthday...79 years old...

That is 78 + 1, so creatively depicted on the spice cake Mama made for him!

About half of the "House" gang gathered for at the House house for a birthday celebration yesterday.  Mama cooked up a scrumptious meal of chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, salad, green beans, and rolls.

Don't take this photo lightly...my sister Barb was standing precariously balanced on a chair in the corner trying to get everyone in.

Grandpa Bud shared the spotlight with his two great-grandsons.  We were able to get the boys to look in the direction of the camera, but not Dad...

Getting ready to blow out the candles...Kaden is already not too sure about this...

...and all the loud singing and cheering pushed him over the edge.

Kaden does not do well with too much noise and commotion, especially when he's tuckered out!

Barb and Mama served the birthday treat.

Now Barb, if you thought you were going to get out of being photographed by volunteering to climb on the chair for the group shot, you were sorely mistaken... you can't escape your big sister's camera!

Karter (and all of us!) loved the rich spice cake...Dad's favorite!  There is nothing in the world quite as deliciously decadent as penuche icing....

Happy Birthday, dear Daddy....Happy Birthday to you!!!  (And many more....)
