It Rained on Our Parade
Papaw's Turn

Our Neck of the Woods

Kim and I recently purchased 60 acres of creek bottom land near his dad's farm.

While 40 acres is rich, productive farm ground...

Prop-6's the other untillable 20 acres that I love.  Woods...

...with a creek running through it.

Martindale Creek.

Kim spent many hours here as a boy, catching pan fish and trapping muskrats along its banks.

My father-in-law keeps a pathway mown through it...

...and there is a nice clearing for picnics or pitching a creekside tent under a massive oak tree.

Beautiful and peaceful in those woods just off the road...

...where you're just as likely to see an Amish buggy clip-clopping by as a car driving past.

And just catty-cornered from our property, Kenny's rusty IU corn bin stands sentinel.

Not quite sure what we're going to do with it, but we've got a little patch of forest of our very own.

Our neck of the woods.

This is gorgeous property! What a gift it gets to stay in the family.
