Babies, It's COLD Outside!

Cold-1

Anyone who lives in the Midwest knows all too well...we're in the midst of an Arctic deep freeze that's not going to be letting up any day soon.

Cold-3

We had our first significant snowfall on New Year's Eve Eve...December 30...and Kim braved the cold temperatures to clean off our driveway.  We were having our final Christmas celebration that day and the kids and their families would be arriving that morning.

Cold-5

There is nothing more quiet and beautiful than fresh snow in the early morning...

Cold-4

I walked down the road in the near-zero temperatures to photograph Kristoffer and Dana's house with their Christmas lights...

Cold-6

...then back to the warmth of our cabin to warm up by the fireplace.

It's COLD outside!

But does that stop my grandbabies and their daddies from frolicking in the first snowfall of the season?

Snowfun-3

Nope!

Our cabin is set on a small knoll...you can't even really call it a "hill"...but it is the highest knoll for miles.  It's not even high enough to really sled down without some good momentum...

Which was provided by Kristoffer and Kyler, who took turns giving the sleds a running start down the mighty slight slope.

Tumble into the snow-filled ditch!

Little Abram (by Kristoffer) got his first memorable sledding experience that day.  Living in South Carolina, he hasn't had much experience with snow!

Karter and Kaden tossing snow up into the air...I'm not sure kids really mind the cold like us wimpy adults do.

Snowfun-33

WHEE!!!  Kassie, Abram, and Kaden....

Speaking of wimpy adults, I quickly snapped these few photos...

Cold-7

...and quickly retreated back into my cozy cabin!

Cold-2

Sure is beautiful to look at...

...but Babies, it's COLD outside!
