Surprise!
Of Course We Did

Maiden Voyage

Mdnvoyage-1

Kim understandably could hardly wait to get his new fishing boat into the water!

Mdnvoyage-2

Kristoffer and his two boys were not yet home from the Indy 500 race, so Dana and the twins joined Kim and me on its maiden voyage.

Mdnvoyage-8

Just a few miles from our cabin is the small state property of Province Pond, a perfect spot for our first launch.

We were the only ones on the lake!

Mdnvoyage-3

It was very quiet and peaceful, except, of course, for the chattering of two 4-year-old girls.

Mdnvoyage-6

Kelsey wanted to be Captain Kim's navigator...

Mdnvoyage-4

...and Kassie was his first mate.  What a cute crew he had!

Mdnvoyage-9

We tooled around the pond for about a half an hour, getting a feel for the small electric trolling motor and just enjoying the peacefulness.  When Kristoffer and the boys made it home from the race, they met us...

Mdnvoyage-11

...and climbed into the boat with us.

Mdnvoyage-13

My cute and goofball Kaden...

Mdnvoyage-14

It was a tight squeeze, but we made it through the channel to the other section of the pond.

Mdnvoyage-15

Lots of weeds...

Mdnvoyage-16

...and the Province Pond gator!

Mdnvoyage-17

What happened to the sunshine?!

Mdnvoyage-18

My oldest grandson Karter will be 9 (no way...9 already?!) in a couple of weeks.  YIKES!

Mdnvoyage-19

Simple pleasures of country kids...

Mdnvoyage-20

It was a full boat, but all 8 of us fit!

Mdnvoyage-21

Even though storm clouds were threatening, the boys just had to wet a line.

Mdnvoyage-23

Karter has the prestigious award for catching the first fish from the boat...

Mdnvoyage-25

...a shiny little bluegill.

Mdnvoyage-26

A couple of photos, then released to swim again....

Mdnvoyage-22

A family of Canada goose cruising by...

About this time the thunder started rolling and the raindrops started falling and it was time to return to shore.

Mdnvoyage-7

We came home wet but full of joy after a short but fun...

...maiden voyage.
